AP English teacher Ava Williams has been trying to convince her principal to let her start a girls' bowling team for years, to no avail. But when Grace Jones, Ava's former best friend and new colleague (she's just been hired to teach chemistry), approaches him about it? Suddenly Grace is the new bowling team's coach, and Ava is her assistant. Naturally, Grace insists they act as co-coaches, but then their boss throws in another wrinkle--if they don't take their new team all the way to the top this season, their first season will also be their last. Grace was never quite sure what had gone wrong with Ava all those years ago, but she suspects it had something to do with the surprisingly sweet kiss they'd once shared. Even with so much at stake, she discovers that she wants to kiss her co-coach again. VERDICT Lee's (Passion Over Pride) slow-burn second-chance romance makes a great addition to the Afterglow line and is sure to leave readers anxiously anticipating the next book in the series.--Rebecca Moe
