Bryan Elliott • This month, I get to share a story from my good friend Bryan Elliott, the pianist of The LeFevre Quartet. He tells us about the lasting impression left of the man who is responsible for giving him his start!

Karen Peck Gooch • Karen Peck Gooch has become the essential queen of Gospel music for many reasons. Her heart, work ethic, dedication, and genuine love for God, family, and the people for whom she sings are her hallmark. Recently, Karen shared with me the series of events that led to her becoming one of Gospel music’s most-loved artists.

Jonathan Wilburn • When a man tells you that the church he attends is in the middle of field, you may tend to think that the church is small and only a handful of people attend the services. Jonathan Wilburn says you might want to think again …

The Root Of All Evil • The Bible states, “The love of money is the root of all evil” (1 Timothy 6:10, KJV). Anyone reading this scripture can clearly see that the key words are “love of.” This is an entirely different concept than the one propagated by some Christians that “money is evil.” It is the “love of money,” or the “lust for money,” in my view, that is evil. Everyone needs money to survive. We go to work, and we get money. We go to the store, and we give money. Having said that, I want to address a subject that seems to be the “Achilles’ heel” of many Southern Gospel artists—asking for money!

Parmesan Fillets • It seems like I make fish a lot more in the summer than I do any other time of the year. It’s lighter, and it is so easy to toss fish on a pan with some seasonal veggies and roast them for the perfect summer meal. This Parmesan topping is especially simple with most ingredients being on hand in every kitchen.

What’s Happening With Darin Hebert • Every Southern Gospel group that is built around four-part, quartet-style singing needs a good bass voice to anchor the harmony—and it just so happens that The Williamsons have exactly that. Bass singer Darin Hebert’s career has been built on not only the love he has for the Lord, but also the Gospel music that has been his passion for more than 20 years.

Conversation With Jacob Mills • In the Conversation seat this month is Jacob Mills, one third of the father-and-sons trio, The Sound. With a fresh sound appealing to all ages and several No. 1 songs already to their credit, The Sound is quickly making their mark on the national Gospel music scene. He might be the quiet one of the trio, but Jacob and I found lots to talk about, including his musical roots, the venue he’d most like to play, his favorite restaurant, and more. Enjoy the visit!

Memphis Quartet Show An Event Like None Other • In the past, Singing News has showcased events such as Bill Bailey’s Winter Gospel Music Convention, Singing In The Sun, 40 Days & 40 Nights At The Ark Encounter, Silver Dollar City’s Southern Gospel Picnic, and The National Quartet Convention. This month, we are spotlighting an event that is like none other – The Memphis Quartet Show!
