What's Happening With Jeanette Cooke • In 1962, the first Walmart store opened. The Flintstones debuted on television. John Glenn became the first American to orbit the earth. Spider-Man made his first comic book appearance. And Jeanette Cooke started singing Gospel music with her husband, Hubert. They called themselves The Cooke Duet. Three sons, a name change, and six decades later, Jeanette is still on the road, sharing her talent for the glory of God with her family, The Singing Cookes.

The Rex Nelon Singers • As the year 1976 wound down, a beloved family group of Southern Gospel music, The LeFevres, retired from the full-time stage. However, the group’s bass singer, Rex Nelon, felt that the group’s sound and precision-style of singing should not fade into history, so he purchased The LeFevres’ group assets and launched The Rex Nelon Singers the next year. The group’s name would change to The Nelons in 1985, but in the eight years as The Rex Nelon Singers, the group recorded some of Southern Gospel music’s all-time favorite songs.
