Put plans in place for 2024 • It’s that time of year to start planning for the next 12 months – so membership renewals and competition dates should be high on the agenda and marked in your Carriage Driving 2024 calendar.

All together now • Tis the season of goodwill, a time to reflect and to look forward, with this in mind, Antonia Gallop has wise words for carriage drivers across the disciplines for the year ahead and beyond.

Getting on track • Molly Knox reports on a visit to Brook Farm RDA by Paralympian Anne Wafulu Strike MBE as she aims to inspire others to take up sport. Plus details on how to watch the RDA Virtual National Championships online.

Wrapping up 2023 • President of the Hackney Horse Society, Barbara Stockton looks back at their championship show, where some classes lacked entries, whilst others highlighted exciting prospects for the future.

Taking on the showers • The final shows of the season saw a return to Monmouth, tyres coming off at Egham Royal and challenging National Championships where on form Alan Clarke didn’t let driving rain hamper his driving skills. Karen Morris reports.

Watersports or scurry? • As Jeff Osborne reports, it was wheels of a different kind needed for a bit of pulling power at Equifest, as the teams took part in the final qualifying rounds ahead of this year’s Horse of the Year Show in Birmingham.

We have no size limits! • Indoor Carriage Driving UK is still growing in popularity for all sizes of horse and pony and for drivers from six to over 70. Fiona Powell reports.

National Championships • A highly charged atmosphere set the scene for the Adveco National Championships at Chatsworth Country Fair in September. Carole Davenport reports on all the action at this well organised fun event.

Battling the elements • In August at Castle Irvine, Irvinestown, Co Fermanagh, the All-Ireland Carriage Driving Championships saw drivers competing against each other and organisers competing against the weather.

Sound advice • Taking care of your horse’s hooves in winter can sometimes be a challenge, with the battle to keep your horse’s feet clean and dry often lost to muddy fields. Harriet Deeming BVSc MRCVS is a vet practicing at Rase Veterinary Centre, here she takes a look at common winter ailments of the hoof - how to treat them and how to prevent them occurring.

Championship fever! • This autumn provided us with not one, but two exhilarating events in the international world of carriage driving. Amy Mundell reports from the FEI World Championships for Ponies and FEI World Championships for Horse Pairs.

Simply the best • The British National Championships was back at Ashfields Carriage and Polo Club for 2023. Amy Mundell reports on all the action and hotly contested competition.

The arena of champions • HOYS as it is affectionally known, marks the end of the outdoor show season, highlighting the outstanding turnouts who gained their ticket at events across the length and breadth of Britain. As Antonia Gallop reports, simply gaining a ticket is an achievement to be celebrated.
